  • I in our drama lessons we done a lot of activities to improve our acting and confidence. We also were working as a team and we were acting out our emotions. However, in another lesson we were reading a book called "The Little Prince" and after we acted it out. The benefit that the drama lessons gave to me was that I was able to go on a stage and act a spesific character. It was a very good lesson to help me use my voice and to be confident infront of everyone. I loved drama because we got to act and I love to act!

From a very young age, around four or five, until I was about fourteen, I attended the Turkish and Kurdish supplementary school every Saturday. While it was called a supplementary school, it essentially provided robust education in subjects like English and Maths, and it became a cornerstone of my educational journey. Being one of the few students who joined at such a young age, I grew up with the program, and it profoundly shaped my confidence, academic skills, and social abilities. The supportive environment and the dedication of the staff not only made learning enjoyable but also opened many doors for me. I earned certificates and participated in numerous ceremonies that enriched my experience. This school gave me a strong reference point that I still rely on today. Having completed my undergraduate degree in sociology and now pursuing my master’s in law at the University of Law, I can confidently say that the foundation laid by this school has been instrumental in my journey. I’m grateful for the lifelong skills and the sense of community it instilled in me, and I still cherish the connections I made there.

As a former maths teacher and current finance professional, working with Bilingual Supplementary School has been truly rewarding. Their support for Turkish and Kurdish-speaking families reflects my passion for helping communities engage with education and feel included. The school goes beyond lessons — it builds confidence, identity, and emotional wellbeing. I admire their focus on the whole child and how they prepare students for both school and life. It’s a lifeline for many families, and I’m proud to support their mission.
